While addressing the gathering of the representative and leadership of Imo people in Abia State representing Okigwe, Orlu and Owerri zones, the convener Mr. Amanze Aparulo stated that their decision is borne out of the numerous achievements of this present administration especially on road infrastructural development across the length and breadth of Abia, which hitherto eluded the State.
In his own contribution, the elder of the union stated that Dr. Ikpeazu’s developmental strides has made Imo people in Abia even those that did not support his election in 2015 have a change of mind to vote him in the 2019 election.
In his reaction, the commisoner for finance, Mr. Obinna Oriaku stated that in the midst of the legal distraction, Dr ikpeazu has done well even in the midst of reduced allocation. The commissioner noted that in road infrastructure decay which was the major challenge of Abia, nay Aba, the Governor has built very appreciable number of roads with a quality likened to that of late Governor Sam Mbakwe of the old Imo State.
Mr. Oriaku noted that Governor Ikpeazu have changed the narrative of sharing the State commonwealth among very few individuals to utilizing the State resources into building lasting projects and teaching Abians how to fish rather than giving them fish as it is in the case of Abia-China automated shoemaking trainees sent to China by the State to enhance their craftsmanship.
The commissioner also noted that Governor Ikpeazu is working round the clock to reclaim the lost glory of the State through aggressive agricultural development policies to make it less reliant on federal allocation hence the State embarked on the plantation of the highly commercial Tenera palm tress with a target of hitting 7m palms before 2020.
He enumerted some of the laudable projects of Ikpeazu’s administration to include the Osisioma interchange, the the rebuilding of failed Faulks, Portharcourt roads, Arochukwu bridge among others and noted that Ikpeazu’s takes Abia projects as what he is building for himself as no man gives himself what is below standard.
